Learn on real shows.

The Creative Entrepreneur Development Program: a mentor, a project of your own, and a way into paid work. It runs in partnership with Arian Tomar.

How it works.

Over 12 weeks you explore the digital arts, build your skills and get support to direct a project of your own, the Independent Directing Project. A mentor helps you plan it and get past whatever is in the way, whether that is a skill, a contact or a grant. Paid work is where you use what you learn and build a portfolio.

More on the program's page.

Is it paid?
The program itself is unpaid. It comes with cameras, lights and mics to use, help writing grants, and occasional paid work with Mismatched.
How long
Up to 12 weeks, at your own pace. Stop when you have what you came for, or stay in touch after if you want more help with your project.
How much time
You set your schedule with the Program Director, around your project and whatever else you have on. You meet regularly and keep the project moving.
Who can apply
Anyone 18 or older who lives or studies in the Twin Cities for more than six months of the year and wants to grow as a creative, an entrepreneur or a learner.
How to apply
Fill in one form. Within ten days you get an email to book a 30-minute video or audio call. Applications are considered on a rolling basis.

The three tracks.

Live Music is my track and runs through Mismatched. Documentary Film is Arian's. Skill-Building covers everything else. You pick one on the application.

How you move into paid work.

Nobody gets thrown into a Mismatched job. You take it on in four steps, which the program calls gradual release of responsibility.

  1. I do. You watch.
  2. I do. You help.
  3. You do. I help.
  4. You do. I watch.
